Rainy day studies

Todays been miserable.
Its not like I'm surprised mind - it's a rarity that the weathers nice here!
But the brucey of a rainy day is you can wear your most cosy jumper and socks combo (mine are a snazzy Christmas print - what? Im prematurely festive!), catch up on rubbish TV and eat left over Chicken Soup! See my previous post for the recipe.

Luckily its given me a chance to get some reading done as well. I mentioned I start a new job soon? Well back in July I was given a (rather hefty) pack I have to have read by the time I start which is not far off now. This is very typical of me to leave this so last minute, my organisation skills are somewhat to be desired.

4hours I've been working my way through this stuff, and im not even half way!

But I've been forced into taking a break. What happened today was bittersweet really. We knew it was coming, so it wasn't a shock. The signs had been there... my IPhone has finally lost its battle with old age.
Now I'd like to take a quiet minute just to think about our good times ....  (overly lengthy pause)  .....  amen.
But with every passing come a new beginning, so I proudly present...

okay, probably not as exciting as you were imagining! I know another IPhone I here you say? and the same model as well?
But hey, if you find something you love, then why question it?

Soup for the Cold-Soul

I've been pulling my hair out the past few weeks, I work in a school, and apparently the holidays are a perk! My friend, there's only so many time I can re-watch New Girl and browse Pinterest.
Okay that's a lie.
But today I was supposed to be looking after my God daughter Scarlett, but her mamma/my best friend, wasn't very well so stayed home from work meaning I wasn't needed to look after her.
Now where was I? Ah yeah, Pinterest!
During many, many hours of mooching my way through every category possible, I came across a perfect little and inexpensive get well gift, which of course I decided to put together. You can see the pin I took inspiration from Here.

And to kill two bird with one stone, I made a large pan off my Chicken soup so that I could give some to Ni (because everyone knows in order to get better, you have to have Chicken Soup!) and still have enough left over to feed Billy when he gets home from work! (Not just a pretty face, eh?)

The picture quality is very poor due to me only having an IPhone until Christmas, so I do apologise!

Now if anyone would like to make the soup, (and I promise, although pictures a bit shoddy, it is beautiful and I always make extra big batches so that I can freeze some for a rainy day) you're going to need the following...

3 average Leeks
4-5 medium Carrots
1 Brown Onion
1/2 Swede or Turnip
10 New Potatoes
3 medium / 2 large raw Chicken breasts
3 Chicken Stock cubes
Tobasco / hot sauce
Worchester Sauce

So this is very simple, you need to chop and slice all your veg into pieces no bigger then the end of your thumb, throw them all in a large pot with your Chicken breasts and stock and pour on hot water until everythings completely covered. I would give you a measurement but that completely depends on the size of your pot! (and I'm rubbish at measuring!)
Put it on a medium heat to boil and add a pinch of salt, a healthy dose of ground black pepper and glug of Worchester and your hot sauce.
Give that around an hour, then take out your Chicken breasts, which should be cooked through by now, and shred them with a couple of forks or what ever you have handy!

Then throw - not literally- the chicken back into the pot and let it simmer for another 20minutes before digging in!

So there you have it, I took her the little get well gift and a tub of soup, along with some flowers

and I got rewarded with this

and with this!

Not a bad day after all...
